B.C. premier has no reason to brag

B.C. premier has no reason to brag

B.C. Premier Christy Clark has trumpeted her province's job-creation record. But the numbers don't tell the whole story. (QMI AGENCY/File)
You work full-time – overtime. Always have.

Your brother-in-law, however, is altogether different. For the last two years he’s lived in your basement and day after day sat his unemployed butt on your couch watching your TV and eating your food.
Then suddenly he announced last week that he had taken a part-time job – 15 hours a week stocking shelves at the neighbourhood grocery store.

So guess who, statistically, will have the bigger gain in productivity this year. That’s right, your wife’s brother. Even though you are still by far the bigger producer, your brother-in-law has gone from zero to 37.5%.
It’s kind of like that with B.C. Premier Christy Clark’s recent boast that B.C. doesn’t need oil income (or presumably pipeline income) to lead the nation in job creation.
