VICTIM
Facebook tribute photo of Marley Rowe, posted by one of his friends.
Marley Rowe, a 23-year-old father, has
been identified by Hamilton police as the city's first homicide victim
of 2014.
Rowe was found shot in the head and
dying when emergency crews responded to a shooting call just four and a
half hours into the new year. Police say Rowe had been at "a house
party" near Sherman and Barton that evening. He was transported to
Hamilton General and pronounced dead there a short time later.
Rowe, himself one three children of a
single mother, became a father in 2012, according to posts on Facebook
by family and friends.
Police have not released any details of
what may have led to his shooting, other than mentioning the party he'd
been at. They are seeking to speak with anyone who also attended the
party, believed to be held at 169 Sherman Avenue North, just north of
Barton St.
Anyone with information about the party
or the shooting is asked to contact Detective Dave Oleniuk at
905-546-3874.
