It took just over 4½ hours for Hamilton to see its first homicide of 2014.
Police say a 23-year-old man was shot in
the head early Wednesday morning and was pronounced dead at Hamilton
General Hospital shortly after. They believe he'd been attending a house
party on Sherman Avenue North just prior to the shooting.
Although police did not release a
specific address, emergency crews were initially called to 169 Sherman
Ave. N., just north of Barton Street, at 4:39 a.m.
Hamilton Paramedic Services confirmed
Wednesday morning that a man was taken to hospital with life-threatening
injuries from that scene.
